“For me tactical operations was the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do since I was a child. There’s definitely a gift in knowing what you want early in life, but it can also be a curse at times. The amount of stress you’re under when you are chasing a dream for so long is immense. That stress coupled with a failed attempt in my first try through the process led me down a rabbit hole looking for help. I committed to a selection preparation program, desperately looking for assistance and answers.
This is where I met Chad. He was an contractor for the program and a coach for his own business Onyx Tactical Performance. Being in a selection prep based program thrusted me into a world of knowing people battling for similar goals of living extraordinary lives. It was good to find my purpose and find motivation alongside of likeminded people. I was in this program for a year and then it abruptly ended with no ability for further coaching and follow up. Months away from selection I had no support for physical programming or nutrition. I felt dead in the water until Chad extended an olive branch to me, he became my coach. With Chad’s coaching and advice I completed one of Canada’s most advanced and toughest ERU (S.W.A.T.) selections.
All along the way Chad offered up little tips and tricks to get advantages that ultimately led to me being successful. I trusted in the advice because Chad not only studied the work extensively, he’s also competed in the selection style events that I had, as well as working with various companies who created and ran their own selection events. I have worked through Onyx Tactical Performance with Chad Kirkham for just over a year now. The experience has been nothing but outstanding. Not only was his programming top notch, but he had to navigate around many issues I had due to a severe car accident injury on my part, where I broke my neck.
